What is VirtueRF Microneedling?

VirtueRF microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) is FDA-cleared to non-surgically rejuvenate the skin by stimulating the body’s natural healing process and initiating the production of new collagen within the tissue. When the microneedle tip of the VirtueRF system perforates the superficial layer of skin, radiofrequency energy is transmitted through the needles to heat the deeper tissue. The skin reacts by working to repair the tissue through the formation of new elastin and collagen fibers, which gradually give the skin a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Immediately following treatment, the skin easily absorbs specialized serums that can further improve skin quality.

What Areas Can VirtueRF Microneedling Treat?

The VirtueRF microneedling system is extremely versatile and can be used treat skin on the face, neck, chest, and body. Each VirtueRF microneedling experience is completely custom-tailored based on the area of the body being treated, the skin concerns present, and the agreed upon treatment goals.

 

What Happens During VirtueRF Microneedling Treatment?

At the start of your session, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area to numb the skin. After about 30 to 45 minutes, the skin should be sufficiently desensitized and RF microneedling with VirtueRF can begin. Once the correct needle depth and radiofrequency settings are entered into the system, the tip of the handpiece is placed against the skin and the RF microneedling begins. Patients typically report feeling some pressure as the microneedles quickly treat the targeted area of skin. When the microneedling is complete, specialized skin serums are allowed to soak into the skin, delivering hydration, nutrients, and other active ingredients for optimal results.

What Are the Side Effects of VirtueRF Microneedling?

After VirtueRF microneedling, it is common for the skin to appear flushed temporarily, though treatment is generally well tolerated by patients who are good candidates for the procedure. When performed properly by a skilled plastic surgeon or highly trained practitioner, there are typically no serious side effects to be concerned about. When post treatment instructions are followed and recovery products are used properly, the skin should return to its normal tone within about six hours (this process may take a bit longer if your treatment is more intensive). At the six hour point, makeup may be applied to conceal any residual effects; however, many patients find they do not require makeup for concealing purposes.

What Results Can I Expect After VirtueRF Microneedling?

For optimal results, it is recommended that VirtueRF patients remain out of the sun as the skin heals. In the short term, microneedling with VirtueRF can deliver a distinctive “glow” to the skin, which is enhanced with the application of skin serums while microchannels created during treatment remain open. Depending on the specific goals and intensity of your treatment, your results may vary; however, the full results of new collagen generation should be visible after about three months.

The specific results you can expect and the time it may take for them to develop will be described in detail during your consultation. For some patients, multiple treatment sessions may be suggested to achieve optimal improvement in the appearance of their unique skin concerns. These sequential sessions are generally performed about six weeks apart. It is also common to combine VirtueRF microneedling with other skin treatments, facial procedures, and/or injectable fillers for a custom-designed treatment plan aimed at providing the greatest degree of aesthetic improvement.

How Much Does VirtueRF Microneedling Cost?

Every VirtueRF microneedling treatment plan is unique to the patient’s skin concerns and goals, which can cause the overall price to fluctuate. At our Baltimore practice, VirtueRF microneedling sessions start at $800 per treatment and may go up to $2100 per treatment to include additional treatment areas like the neck and décolleté.

Factors that may influence the cost of treatment with the VirtueRF microneedling system include:

  • Size of the treatment area(s)
  • Type of skin conditions and/or concerns being treated
  • Addition of platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy
  • Length of treatment sessions
  • Number of sessions performed
